Natures
Winds and drifts,
For reasons not fully known to man,
Were more stable then…
Winds that brought the frost
In the early part of years past,
Cool, soothing refreshment in the middle,
And warmth in the late ends.
Men’s dispositions, likewise,
Were even-handed;
Like the weather, they endured
Through turmoil and striving,
Always offering tempering effects.
Those times,
Sturdy like a countertop
In terms of both weather
And human character
Offered buffering
Against the heat of summer,
And the snow of winter;
The heat of passion,
And the snow of indifference.
And humanity thrived,
Right within the world it inhabited.
