"I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Coming from a small town myself, this story described what it was like on a Friday night during football season in my home town. Windows of businesses were painted with shoe polish lettering and a lot of people could be found at the games either home or away. I felt varying emotions throughout this story and I didn't want to put it down. I'm not one for fiction typically but I thought I'd give it a try and wound up liking it. It reminds me of the small town politics that may or may not be known about. This story didn't shy away from the division that we all may or may not know about or want to admit. The story was kept raw with the language and scenarios therefore making it seem real. This is the first book of John's that I've ever read and I'm looking forward to reading 'Pain Killer' next."

Who wouldn't like a story about crooked preachers and politicians? It starts out a little choppy but soon gains momentum. You become intimately involved in both the plot and the sub-plot until you give up doing other things and just read it till you're done.

READ THIS BOOK!!!! Good story and well-written

The book Painkiller by John Gibson was a very well written book. It held my attention throughout this story. It takes place in several different towns in Florida. It shows how someone can be held in high esteem and adoration only to fall from the position he and his family had held. The journey to climb out of his situation and the empact it made on others. What can be the only way out to redemption.

This is a well written book that leads you through the rollercoaster ride of the lives of its characters. From the top of the world to rock bottom and back. This book has something for everyone, love, redemption, murder, intrigue, politics and corruption. Wonderful new author.
